She was predeceased by: her parents, James Harvey Swaringen and Annie Lambert Hatley; her husband Clayton Alexander "Buddy" Whitley; and her siblings, Steven Carroll Swaringen, James William Swaringen and Helen Virginia Whitley.
She is survived by: her daughters, Myra Lowder of Oakboro, NC and Patty Efird (Jeff) of Locust, NC; her grandchildren, Amber Hill (Jeremy), Amy Ingle (Ken) and Chad Lowder; her great grandchildren, Conner, Josh, Adelyn and Peyton; her great great grandchild Jameson Cole; and her brothers, Johnny Dee Swaringen of Oakboro, NC and Lee Crowell Swaringen of Albemarle, NC..
