The passing of Janie Mae Swaringen Whitley of Oakboro, North Carolina, born in Norwood, North Carolina leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on January 21, 2025 at the age of 85. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Harvey Swaringen and Annie Lambert Hatley; her husband Clayton Alexander "Buddy" Whitley; and her siblings, Steven Carroll Swaringen, James William Swaringen and Helen Virginia Whitley.
She is survived by: her daughters, Myra Lowder of Oakboro, NC and Patty Efird (Jeff) of Locust, NC; her grandchildren, Amber Hill (Jeremy), Amy Ingle (Ken) and Chad Lowder; her great grandchildren, Conner, Josh, Adelyn and Peyton; her great great grandchild Jameson Cole; and her brothers, Johnny Dee Swaringen of Oakboro, NC and Lee Crowell Swaringen of Albemarle, NC..
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Providence Church of God (12474 NC-24, Locust, NC 28097). A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 1:45 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
