He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Ephriam and Essie Mae Hinson Burris; and his siblings, Julius Eugene Burris, Grant Ephriam Burris, Emma Louvenia Burris, Sarah Thelma Davis and Bessie Marene Burris.

He is survived by: his sisters, Margaret Burris Curlee and Rosa Burris Barbee; and his nephew Reed Barbee (Michelle).
