She was predeceased by: her parents, James Charlie Brooks and Ola Bell Howard Brooks; her husband T. R. "Slick" Austin; her son Ronald "Ronnie" Max Austin; and her siblings, Sudie Brooks Mills and James Helton Brooks.
She is survived by: her son Rex Alan Austin (Glenda); her sister Melba Jean Sides; her granddaughters, Shay Russell (Grant), Sarah Philemon (Darrick) and Samantha Thompson (Stan); her great grandchildren, Cole and Cora Russell; and her daughter-in-law Virginia Austin.
