He is survived by: his children, Phillip Douglas Hanks and Krista Nicole Justice; his grandchildren, Ethan Zachary Hanks, Elijah Garret Hanks, Ellenor Joy Justice and Pawpaw; his wife Judy Smithson Hanks of Summerfield, NC; his daughter-in-law Diane Hanks; his grandson Elijah Hanks of Oak Ridge, NC; his son-in-law Joseph Justice; his grandchild Ellenor Justice of Kernersville, NC; his brothers, Jerry (Sharon Hanks), Keith (Dayna Hanks), Dennis (Rene Hanks) and Timmy (Missy Hanks); his mother-in-law Beatrice Smithson; his siblings-in-law, Martha, Tommy Booth of Lindside, WV, Ruth Highlander of Fairlea, WV and Shirley Smithson of Lindside, WV; his cousin Don Farlow of High Point, NC; his father-in-law Rev. Ralph L. Smithson; and his brother-in-law Timmy Smithson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
