He was predeceased by: his son Brent Sanders. He is survived by: his daughter Kim Gough; his son-in-law Chad Gough; his grandchildren, Chase, Deyton, Karson, Abigail and Max Gough; his sister Susie Lanier; his brother-in-law Chip Lanier; and his nephews, James, Benjamin and Stephen Lanier.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Carroll County High School, 100 CAVS Lane, Hillsville, VA 24343 with "Baseball Lights" in the memo line.
