He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Maggie Davis Smith; his children, Jason Smith, Michael Smith, Grover Hudson of Rocky Mount, Brenda Havenor of Jacksonville and Denise Oakley of Greensboro; and his siblings, Ricky Smith of Tarboro, Gladys Medford of Macclesfield and Patricia Burdet of Pinetops. He was also cherished by three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
