He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Helms and Ida Wilson Helms; his wife Nancy Carolyn Helms; his sons, Stephen and Jeffery Helms; his grandson Michael Mills; and his brothers, Gerald, Alfred, Charles and Johnny Helms.
He is survived by: his daughters, Janet Medlin of Norwood and Mardi Kohlage (Henry) of Mt. Pleasant; his grandchildren, Sherrie Schoen (John), Lisa Preslar, Michelle Helms, Brian Helms and Kaila Lineberger (Billy); and his great grandchildren, Shaian, Katlyn, Brandon, Carrie, Alayna, Emily and Billy.
