He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Meredith Slater; and his sisters, Dorothy Stoddard and Betty Gates. He is survived by: his sons, Barry Slater (Connie) of Locust, Scott Slater (Tina) of Winston-Salem and Chris Slater (Angie) of Concord; his grandchildren, Michael Springer, Tanya Luther, Matt Slater, Beth McCandless, Jessica Slater, Kelly Slater, Jennie Slater and Ian Slater; and his great grandchildren, Parker, Mia, Madison, Teagan, Waylon and Audrey.
