He was predeceased by: his parent Claude Gilreath; his wife Dorothy Mayes Gilreath; and his sister Jean. He is survived by: his children, Pamela Gilreath of North Wilkesboro, Betty Fruchtenicht of North Wilkesboro, William Hillery Gilreath, Jr. of North Wilkesboro, Philip Gilreath of North Wilkesboro and Scott Gilreath of North Wilkesboro. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.
