He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie C. Davis and Dorothy Love Davis; and his sister Flora Mae Horton. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Lipford Davis of Lenoir; his children, Dorothy Wilson (Carlos) of Hickory, Alisha Oaks (Van) of Winston Salem, Brianna Howell (Jahnoy) of Lenoir, Tony Howard of Lenoir, Samuel Davis, Jr. (Katherine) of Lenoir and Andy Rich of Lenoir; and his siblings, Gladys Caldwell of Morganton, Marietta Lipford of Lenoir, Dorothy Davis of Lynchburg, VA, Alda Mae Dula (Dale) of Lenoir and Charles Davis (Barbara) of Ferguson. He is also survived by twelve grand children; seven great grandchildren.
