He was predeceased by: his parents, J. C. Walker and Grace Yale Walker. He is survived by: his wife Betty Staley Walker; his children, Elisha M. Johnson (Dennis) of North Wilkesboro and Lance A. Miller (Darlene) of North Wilkesboro; his grandchildren, Tyler Johnson of North Wilkesboro and Autumn Miller (Samuel Hunnicutt) of Brevard; and his siblings, Vickie Walker (Phill Caudill), Kathy Bauguess of Wilkesboro, Terry Walker (Thelma) of Millers Creek and Mike Walker (Gloria) of Hays. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
