He was predeceased by: his parents, Roby Landon and Sally Pruitt Mitchell; his former wife Ella Mae Sheets Mitchell; his siblings, Joe Russell Mitchell, James Kelly Mitchell, Sally Jeanette Mitchell, Peggy Mitchell Hudler and Shirley Ann Mitchell Triplett; and his granddaughter Tabitha Mitchell.
He is survived by: his children, Allan Mitchell (Joyce) of North Wilkesboro, Dian Benge (Robin) of Raleigh and Ellen Royal (Ray) of McGrady; his brothers, John Mitchell of North Wilkesboro, David Lee Mitchell (Retha) of Boomer and Larry Mitchell (Judy) of North Wilkesboro; his grandchildren, Chris Mitchell, Tony Mitchell, Summer Johnson, Morgan Davis, Daniel Benge, Paityn Benge, Gabrielle Royal and Violet Royal; and his great grandchildren, Emma Mitchell, Harley Smith, Addison Johnson, Adeline Johnson, Abigail Mitchell, Josiah Mitchell, Aidan Davis and Wyatt Davis.
