With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Robert Shumate Sr. of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, who passed away on May 26, 2021 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Enis and Sina Reeves Shumate; his wife Faye Johnson Shumate; and his brothers, Otis, Plato and Rex Shumate.
He is survived by: his son Robert "Robbie" Vance Shumate, Jr. (Tammie McCarter Shumate) of Millers Creek; his grandchildren, Christopher Anthony Shumate (Ruth) of Moravian Falls and Catherine Shumate Matherly (Bryant) of Moravian Falls; his great grandchild Caroline Brooke Matherly; and his siblings, Betty Handy (Junior) of North Wilkesboro and Bill Shumate (Georgie) of North Wilkesboro.
