He was predeceased by: his parents, James Robert and Irene Moody Potts; his wife Jean Perry Potts; and his siblings, Ruth Gunner and Thomas Ray Potts.
He is survived by: his daughter Charlotte Shoemaker (Colin) of Wilkesboro; his stepdaughter Shelby Wright of Virginia; and his granddaughter Kelly Stovall (Bradley).
