She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Jones Guy Shuford and Donna Melissa Lingerfelt Shuford; her daughters, Charlene McKinney Hicks (Charlie) of Sanford and Donna McKinney Heiser (Chuck) of Sanford; her grandchildren, Patrick Hicks (Sidney) of High Point, Christa Rice (James) of Raleigh, Kimberly MacInnes (Ben) of Cary and Jason Heiser of Raleigh; her great grandchildren, Fiona Hicks, Sean Hicks, Remington Rice, Rose Rice, Carson MacInnes and Brynn MacInnes; her siblings-in-law, Joann Wilfong of Hickory, Loretta McKinney of Salisbury, Zeb McKinney (Chris), Sam McKinney (Barbara) of Spruce Pine and James McKinney of Morganton; and her husband William C. McKinney, Jr.. She was also cherished by nieces and nephews.
