He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Shew and Kathleen Shew; his wife Tina Brown Shew; his grandson Malachi Kole Tilley; and his siblings, Thurmond Shew, Jimmy Shew, Roy Duke Shew, Rocky Lane Shew and Kathy Shew Anderson.
He is survived by: his children, Angela Bentley (Dean) of Wilkesboro, Sheri Shew of Hays, Billy Shew of North Wilkesboro, Penny Johnson of Millers Creek, Nicole Tilley (Donnie) of North Wilkesboro and Justin Shew of Hays; his siblings, Pauline Souther (Jack) of North Wilkesboro, Virginia Ryder (Arnold) of Greenville and Dean Shew (Denise) of North Wilkesboro; and his grandchildren, Crystal Shew, Alisha Prevette, Brittney Shew, Dalton Shew, Mackenzie Shew, Colby Shew, Kyle Gambill, Zachary Greene, Terrance Anderson, Trenton Tilley, Grayson Tilley, Josiah Shew, Justice Shew, Chasity Bentley, Cory Bentley and Kandy Bentley. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
