He was predeceased by: his parents, James Walter Church and Annie Mae Griffey Church; his wife Lula Diane Bentley Church; his siblings, Junior Church, Travis Church, Dorothy Ferguson, Kay McCallister and Marcella Johnson; and his grandson Isiah Pena.
He is survived by: his children, Melissa Church (Thomas Parsons) of North Wilkesboro, James Ronald "Ronnie" Dale Church (Karen) of Millers Creek and Kenneth "Allen" Church (Brandi) of Boomer; his siblings, Penny Foster (Bill), Ola Mae Winebarger, Sue Winebarger and Eric Church; his stepchildren, Luiz Pena and Mary Pena; and his close friend Lisa Ann Pena. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
