It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Essie Hayes of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, who passed away on November 21, 2020, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Jonathan Wilson Norris and Edith Maxwell; her children, Daniel, David and Sharon; her children-in-law, Sandra Cleary Hayes, Jane Hayes and Tony Roach; her grandchildren, Adam Roach of Culpeper and Erin Hayes-Smith; her great grandchildren, Isaac and Ruthalee; her sisters, Nell Fitzgerald and Neva Keith; her brothers-in-law, Dr. Joseph Fitzgerald and Alex Keith; and also, Adam, Rebecca and Eve. She was also cherished by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
To reduce the risk of Covid exposure, graveside services will be performed 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Scenic Memorial Gardens where she will be given final rest next to Essie's dear Commie, her husband of 65 years.
