He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Yancy Edwards, Sr. and Mamie Bell Inscore Edwards; his wife Peggy Jean Wagoner Edwards; his son Thomas Howard Edwards; and his siblings, Virginia Matthews, Jackie Markland, Thelma Elledge and Frank Edwards.

He is survived by: his children, Billy Edwards (Sheila) of North Wilkesboro, Norma Wood (Ronnie) of Roaring River, Dwayne Edwards (Dawn) of North Wilkesboro and Juanita Edwards of North Wilkesboro; and his grandchildren, Amanda Gardner (Shawn) of Dobson and Michael Wood (Krissi) of Mtn.
