He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Howard and Esta Kathleen Stanley Caldwell; his wife Nancy Gail Walter; and his brothers, Raymond Howard, Dallas Gene Caldwell and James David Caldwell.
He is survived by: his siblings, John Richard Caldwell (Samantha) of North Wilkesboro, Della Kathleen Allison (David) of North Wilkesboro, Deborah Ann Jones of Lincolnton, NC and Esta Marie Caldwell (Michael Farmer) of Virginia. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and great nephews.
