He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert McKinley Shoemaker and Addie Mastin Shoemaker; his wife Vecie Hall Shoemaker; his siblings, R. V. Bowman (Robert Virginia), Agnes Alexander, Bruce Shoemaker and Edward Shoemaker (Dink); and his son-in-law Mike Cannon.
He is survived by: his children, Lynn Shoemaker Dyer (Danny) of Millers Creek, Diane Shoemaker Cannon of Wilkesboro and Bobby F. Shoemaker (Pam) of North Wilkesboro; his grandchildren, Robin D. Hamby (Matt), Amber C. Shumate (Andy), Ashley D. Cannon, Bobby Sheets and Adam P. Shoemaker; his great grandchildren, Aaron, Adrienne Hamby, Emeliegh, Ashlyn Shumate, Dawson and Gage Sheets; and his sister-in-law Ruth Shoemaker.
