It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mildred Atkinson of Norlina, North Carolina, who passed away on December 9, 2020, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Irvin Ellixson and Sallie Paschall Shearin; her son Freddie Ray Atkinson, Jr.; and her brother H. W. Shearin. She is survived by: her husband Freddie Ray Atkinson; her children, James Atkinson (Tracie) of Havelock and Michelle Paine (Chris) of Clayton; and her siblings, Douglas Shearin (Linda) of Chesapeake, VA, Hunter Shearin (Cheryl) of Richmond, Irene Sergeant (Kenny) of Eolia, KY, Mary Jorstad of Chester, VA, Donna Shearin of Richmond, Betty Albis of Richmond, Kaye Lawrence (Kenny) of Richmond and Lottie Newton of Ahoskie. She is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
