He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Hawkins and Lillie Roberts Hawkins. He is survived by: his children, George R. Hawkins Jr., Phyllis D. Hawkins and James A. Hawkins (Rita); and his stepchildren, Wilhemina Talley, Robert Crawley, Karen Wright (Robert), Apostle Previs Foster and Brian Foster (Ondray). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 12 Great- Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren.
