He was predeceased by: his parents, Claiborne Lester Ward Jr. and Virginia Hedrick Ward; and his brothers, Jonnie L. Ward and Clay L. Ward. He is survived by: his wife Janet Minyard Ward; his sons, Kelvin W. Ward of Newton and Gregory A. Ward (Chasity) of Catawba; his siblings, Henry L. Ward (Jill) of Maiden and Lisa W. Frye (Christopher) of Newton; his grandchildren, Chelsea Scully, Caleb Ward, Jordon Ward, Grace Ward, Isaac Ward, Vanessa Hoke and Kaitlyn Frye; and his great grandchildren, Lilliana Hoke, Jocelyn Hoke, Laila Hoke and Lee Hoke.
