It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Wayne Calvin Deitz of Newton, North Carolina, who passed away on March 27, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Calvin Deitz and Bessie Smart Deitz; his siblings, Paul Lewis Deitz and Betty S. Taylor; and his grandchild Devon Abernathy.
He is survived by: his wife Linda McGee Deitz; his children, Tommy Abernathy (Allison) of Connelly Springs and Melissa Elliot (Mike) of Conover; his grandchildren, Derek Lail, Dillon Elliot, Rachel Abernathy and Corey Abernathy; and his nieces and nephews, Katrina Daniel (Scott), Lisa Sigmon, Jeffery Taylor (Sandra) and Eric Taylor (Cheryl).
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Bennett Funeral Service (7878 NC-16, Newton, NC 28658). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
