He is survived by: his children, Marica Hicks of Lincolnton and Richard Walters of Newton; his sisters, Diane Wood (James) of Newton and Emily Walters of Newton; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Morgan (Fabian Morgan), Randall Canipe, Ivy Leigh Walters, Jeffery Hicks and Matthew Hicks; his great grandchildren, Lainey Morgan, Evalette Morgan and Forrest Morgan; and his nephews, Ladd Smith and Jonathan Smith.
