He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Canipe and Addie Canipe; and his sister Elizabeth. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Cunningham Canipe; his children, Cindy Smith-Canipe (Vicki), Robin Rudisill (Jeff) and Robert Coy Canipe, Jr. (Heather); his grandchildren, Lauren Patterson (Wilson), Alex Stafford (Michelle), Faith Canipe, Anna Ollis, Madison Canipe, Erik Smith (Courtney) and Matthew Smith (Amber); and his great grandchildren, Gavin Smith, Matthew Herrera, Wyatt Smith, Harper Smith and Malachi Smith.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 12:30 PM to 2:15 PM at the Willis Reynolds Funeral Home (56 Northwest Blvd, Newton, NC 28658). A celebration of life was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home (56 Northwest Blvd, Newton, NC 28658).
