With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rayford David James of Newton, North Carolina, born in Alexander, North Carolina, who passed away on March 22, 2021 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Justin James and Florence Brown James; his wife Bessie Mae Tedder James; and his siblings, Lester Brown and Linda Joines.

He is survived by: his children, Jimmie James (Deborah) of Lincolnton, Jerry James of Newton, Dean James of Newton, Margaret Carver (Ronnie) of Conover, Diana Moose (Ed) of Newton and Trudy James of Newton; his sister Mary Fox of Statesville; his grandchildren, Michael James, Angela James, Jay Carver, Dodi Traxler, Kevin James and April Lowe; and his great grandchildren, Jessica, Evan, Zachary, Justin, Kenyon, Jabari, Trinity, Presley, Ethan and Elizabeth.
