He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward Coulter and Jettie McCorkle Coulter; his sons, Ronnie Gene, Keith and Scottie Coulter; his siblings, Dennis, Cecil Coulter, Beatrice Clement, Geneva Rozell, Yvonne Wingate and Earline Ijames; and his great grandchild Ezekiel Daniel Squarles.
He is survived by: his wife Lillian Thompson Coulter; his children, Leonard Coulter Jr. (Diane) of Newton and Toni Abernathy (Bobby) of Conover; and his sister Nellie Ijames. He is also survived by Six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren.
