He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph William Ervin and Effie Ervin; and his brother Henry Ervin (Bill). He is survived by: his wife Ramona Ervin; his sons, Joe Ervin (Paige) of Maryland and Benjamin Ervin (Anne) of Charlotte; his stepson Wesley Martin (Amy) of Newton; his sister Brenda Ervin Whisnant of Lenoir; his sister-in-law Ruby Ervin of Lenoir; and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Maddie, Liam Ervin and Zac Martin. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
