He was predeceased by: his parents, John Propst and Helen Abernathy Moss; and his nephew Steven Starr. He is survived by: his wife Jane Moss; his sons, Jonathan Moss of Hickory and Aaron Moss (Jodie) of Catawba; his grandsons, Landon, Jaxon and Corbin Moss; his sister Trudy Starr (Ronnie); and his niece Connie Starr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in Johnny's name.
