He was predeceased by: his parents, George Smith and Sarah Watts Smith; and his brothers, Forrest Smith and J. T. Smith. He is survived by: his wife Willie Faye Helms Smith; his sons, Roger Smith (Lynn) of Vale and Phillip Smith (Tammy) of Vale; his sister Margie S. Sain of Lincolnton; and his grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Ethan Smith and Zackery Smith.
