He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Hubert Setzer and Carrie Killian Setzer; and his brothers, Jackie Setzer and Leonard Setzer. He is survived by: his wife Tommie Lee Cope Setzer; his son Dennis Howard Setzer (Darla Setzer) of Newton; his brother Bobby Setzer (Gloria) of Newton; and his grandson Brandon Setzer (Belinda) of Conover. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
