He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Clark and Velida Heatherly Clark; and his sister-in-law Judy T. Sheets. He is survived by: his wife Sandra K. Clark; his son James P. Clark; his sisters, Linda Martin of Newton and Juanita Copper of West Virginia; his stepchildren, Timothy W. Lusk (Pa) of Hickory, Michael Matthews (Lora) of Claremont, Charlotte Blair of Lincolnton, Jennifer K. Lusk of Lincolnton and Kimberly Herman (Wayne) of Hickory; and his sisters-in-law, Elaine Thomas of Virginia, Betty Ann Thomas Moran of Taylorsville, Martha Thomas of Taylorsville and Margaret Cox of Hickory. He is also survived by 16 Grandchildren, 21 Great-Grandchildren A number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
