It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Hawkins of Newton, North Carolina, who passed away on December 25, 2020, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Grooms and Pearl Inman Hawkins Grooms; his wife Teresa "Terry" Hawkins; and his siblings, Johnny Grooms and Evelyn Hickman.
He is survived by: his children, Deann Hawkins Surrette (Alan), James "Jamie" Hawkins Jr. (Sherry) and Ernest "Bobby" Hawkins; his brothers, William "Billy" Hawkins and Eddie Grooms (Susan); his cousin Joanne Vaughn (Duane); and his brother-in-law Roger Givens Jr..
