It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Irene Francis Mathis Heavner of Newton, North Carolina, who passed away on January 17, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Thomas Mathis and Mary Estelle Ingle Mathis; her husband Eugene Heavner; her son Jerry Heavner; and her siblings, Gene Mathis, Claude Mathis, Jr., Wilbert Mathis, Lillie Mae Dellinger and Joyce Adams.
She is survived by: her children, Larry Heavner (Diane) of Newton and Betty Matheson of Newton; her sister Faye Wolters of Conover; her grandchildren, Donna, David, Lisa, Kim, Sheila, Kelly and Michelle; her great grandchildren, Jesse, Joshua, Kristen, Caleb, Adam, Alex, Joseph, Ashlee and Drew; and her great great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Karleigh, Makenna, Jonah, John Lee, Sylvia, Amelia and Benjamin.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM at the Grace Lutheran Church (4536 Hickory Lincolnton Hwy, Newton, NC 28658). A celebration of life was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
