He is survived by: his wife Frances Prestwood Settlemyre; his son Walt Settlemyre (Char Smith) of Hickory; his stepsons, Rick Ward (Donna) of Chapel Hill, TN and Joe Ward, Jr. (Wanda) of Hickory; his daughter Lisa Surby (Danny McNeely) of Hickory; and his siblings, Joe Rowe Settlemyre (Millie) of Newton, Evelyn Canipe of Newton and Shirley Setzer of Claremont.
