He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilhelm Gimm and Lieselotte Künnel Gimm Foley; and his stepfather John Foley. He is survived by: his wife Betsy Kuhlmann Gimm; his children, Michael Gimm (Julie) of Charlotte and Barbara Serrano (Jorge) of Cornelius; and his sister Chris Foley (Steve Dambrosio).

A reception was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Bennett Funeral Service-Newton (7878 NC-16, Newton, NC 28658).
