She was predeceased by: her parents, Jonas Franklin and Vertia Vernell Simmons Hunsucker; her husband Steele Jones Reid; her sons, Reginald Baron Reid and Andrew Lee Reid; and her siblings, Jonas Theobold Hunsucker, Alvena Hunsucker Deal, Freda Hunsucker Regan, Frankie Hunsucker Bowman and Edith Hunsucker Gantt.
She is survived by: her son Samuel Reid (Julie); her sister-in-law Betty Reid; and her niece Terra West. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Hickory Baptist Church in Ernestine's name.
