He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Phillips and Hazel Main Phillips; his son David William Phillips; and his brothers, Robert Phillips, Thomas Phillips and LeeRoy Phillips.

He is survived by: his wife Edith Holman Phillips; his son Ricky Alan Phillips of Newton; his siblings, Glenn Phillips of Colora, MD, Fred Phillips (Jane) of Todd, Virginia Phillips Mosuly of Califon, NJ and Linda Phillips Seatz (Bobby); and his sister-in-law Charlotte Phillips of West Jefferson.
