She was predeceased by: her parents, Harland Elmore Hedrick and Madie Huffman Hedrick; her husband Raeford Long Benfield; her son Grady N. Benfield; her siblings, Clyde E. Hedrick, Ralph Hedrick, Annie Ruth Shook and Blanche Dugger; her granddaughter Beverly Arrowood; and her great grandchild Chandler Praytor.
She is survived by: her children, Gary Benfield (Sheila) of Denver, Gina Catoe (Ray) of Denver and Gaye Shelton (Doyle) of Cleveland, NC.; her daughter-in-law Wanda Lougene Benfield of Newton; her stepmother Sunshine Hedrick of Korea; and her siblings, Harland "Jake" Hedrick, Jr. of Greensboro, Carl "Red" Hedrick of Conover, Melvin Hedrick of Morganton, Violet Clark of Claremont and Margie Sigmon of Conover. She is also survived by Nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church, Newton, N C. Burke Mortuary and Crematory-Newton is serving the Benfield Family.
