It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Donald Ray Barger of Newton, North Carolina, born in Catawba, North Carolina, who passed away on April 8, 2024, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lon Barger and Gladys Williams Barger; and his siblings, Larry Barger, Fred Barger, Tom Barger, Howard Barger, Dorothy Mauser and Hilda Barger.

He is survived by: his wife Camellia Coulter Barger; his children, Janet Spinks (William Lynch), Diane Abernathy (Scott), Donald Barger, Jr. (Donna) and Lee Barger (Angie); and his grandchildren, Robert Spinks, Anna Locklear, Leann Thomas (Jake), Matthew Barger, Lauren Barger and Austin Abernathy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 2120 Startown Road, Hickory, NC 28602.
