She was predeceased by: her parents, Don Calloway and Cassie Handy Blevins; her husband Rev. Eddie Steven Shumate; and her brother Rev. Donald Blevins. She is survived by: her children, Stephanie Shumate Land (TSgt) and Richard S. Shumate (Amy) of North Wilkesboro; her grandchildren, Amber S. Bowlin (Cody), Carrie L. Winkler (Jacob), Lindsey N. Smith (Jonathan) and Steven E. Shumate (Bethany); her great grandchildren, Lydia Shumate, Charity Bowlin, Cassie Bowlin, Ivy Bowlin and Landon Winkler; and her sister Gail B. Gentry of North Wilkesboro.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:45 PM at the Calvary Baptist Church (275 5th Ave N, Taylorsville, NC 28681). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Mountlawn Memorial Park (196 Fan Key Rd, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659).
