With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dessie Irene Walker (Newton, North Carolina), born in Alexander, North Carolina, who passed away on March 3, 2017 at the age of 73. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parent Landon Smith; and her siblings, Jacqueline Travis, Harold Smith and Carol Smith. She is survived by: her parent Hexie Smith; her children, Diane Ross, Jesse Ross and Sheila Putnam; and her great grandchildren, Travis Brooks, Alexis Brooks, Hayden, Kadie and Kandice Ross.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
