He was predeceased by: his parent Collie Mae Childress Dowell; and his siblings, Christine Dowell Carswell, Mattie Lee Dowell Powell, CJ Dowell, Clay Dowell, Jessie Dowell, Betty Dowell Maynard and Benjamin Dowell.
He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Chester Dowell; his children, Nathan Dowell (Kim) of Hickory and Jennifer Dowell (Sean Drum) of Newton; his granddaughters, Kaylee Dowell Ehart (Cooper) and Abigail Dowell; and his stepgrandson Logan Drum.
