He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Alonzo Shook and Lillie Whitner Shook; his wife Jean Fox Shook; his sons, Terry Shook and Tony Shook; his siblings, H. L. Shook, Tommy Shook, Wayne Hendrix and Kathleen Payne; and his son-in-law Rick Hester.

He is survived by: his children, Rev. Tim Shook (Melody) of Newton and Vickie Hester of Hickory; his grandchildren, Casey Shook (Amanda), Brian Mason (Mary), Erica Boustead (Sean), Kisha Edwards (Kyle), Jessie Shook and Erin Shook; and his great grandchildren, Kolton Edwards, Mason Shook, Flint Shook, Hayden Newsome and Joseph Kerley.

Visitation was held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Joy Baptist Church (4015 Herman Sipe Rd, Conover, NC 28613). A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
