She was predeceased by: her parents, Harlan Heafner and Evangeline Hauser Heafner; her sister Jean Heafner Harnack; her granddaughter Cora Gaither Shook; and her husband Albert Cowles Gaither of Newton.
She is survived by: her sister Carolyn Heafner Williams of Lincolnton; her children, William Cowles Gaither (Kate Gaither), Susan Gaither Jones (Thomas Jones), Lawson Heafner Gaither (Jessica James) and Albert Comer Gaither of Charlottesville; and her nephews, Charles Harnack and David Harnack of Columbus, Ohio.. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
