He is survived by: his stepson James Nelson Sherrill III (Sharon) of Newton; his sister Catherine Hall McClellan of Augusta; and his grandchildren, James Nelson Sherrill IV (Cathryn), Roy Devan Beam (Tiffany) and Anna Claire Sherrill (Gibson Huff).
