He is survived by: his children, Lura Annette Gilliam (Garland Byrd), Timothy Wayne Cates and Troy Ray Cates (Tina); his grandchildren, Blaire Cates Willis (Lando), Ashley Jena Brown, Philip Gilliam (Beth), Alex Wrenn, Elizabeth Cates, Natalie Gilliam (Cody Watson), Justin Wayne Cates and Zachary Ray Cates (Kelsey); and his sisters, Jo Ann Bridges, Linda Norton and Nancy Morrison. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren; 6 nieces; and 7 nephews.
