He was predeceased by: his parents, William Deese and Virgie Deese; and his sisters, Linda Lou Deese and Ruth Deese-Burrows. He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Sexton Deese; his children, Renee Kuczka (Chad) of Stafford and Jerry Deese (Karen) of Albemarle; his siblings, Fran Parkerson of Troy, Hazel Spivey (James) of Troy, Janice Lewis of Rockingham, Stan Deese of Hickory and Gerald Deese (Darlene) of Mt. Gilead; and his grandchildren, Dylan, Aidan and Sarah Kuczka.
